About Us

Al Haqanya Foundation for Rights and Freedom was declared in 2015 by the Ministry of Social Solidarity with declaration number 10049 for the year 2015, as a non-profit civil institution.

The Foundation’s activities include human rights, rights of the disabled and people with special needs, environmental protection, and cultural and scientific awareness).

Al Haqanya has reconciled its status according to the 149-law of 2019, regulating the practice of civil work. The geographical scope of its work is The Arab Republic of Egypt, and it is working under the unified number 21011135619629 in the electronic system.

Our Vision

The Foundation’s vision is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the international charters and conventions ratified by Egypt, the Egyptian Constitution, and national initiatives such as the National Human Rights Strategy 2021-2026, acknowledging that all citizens are equal before the law and have the right to a decent life that preserves their constitutional rights. The Foundation is focusing on the marginalized groups to achieve its goals:

Our Activities

The Foundation’s activities are divided into four main areas:

  • The Human Rights.
  • The Preservation of Environment.
  • The Rights of the Disabled and People with Special Needs.
  • The Cultural, Scientific, and Religious Awareness.

Our Achievements

Since its establishment, Al Haqanya Foundation has shed light on a number of unconstitutional laws in criminal justice and presented its vision to amend these laws in accordance with the articles of the 2014 Egyptian Constitution.

The Foundation participated in the publication of a booklet on the Rights of Citizens in the Health System in the book The Right to Health.

The Foundation participated in preparing an opinion on the draft medical liability law in cooperation with the Medical Syndicate to protect the rights of patients in crimes of medical negligence, as well as the rights of the doctor. The Medical Syndicate adopted the Foundation’s recommendations on November 29, 2017.

The Foundation participated in the opinion in preparing some draft laws within the framework of the right to litigation, such as the Law on the Protection of Witnesses and Whistleblowers.

The Foundation participated with the National Council for Human Rights in organizing a workshop on the draft amendments to the Criminal Procedures Law. Accordingly, the National Council for Human Rights addressed the House of Representatives with its comments on the draft law.

The Foundation has provided legal support within its framework to several citizens.

Our Programs

Spreading the Culture of Human Rights Program:

The program aims to spread awareness of human rights culture against all forms of violence, extremism, and discrimination.

Protection of the Rights of the Disabled and People with Special Needs program:

The program aims to spread awareness of the rights of the disabled and facilitate their access to their rights through the constitutional rights entrusted to them, as well as the law for people with special needs, and to raise awareness among citizens on how to facilitate the services provided to them. Participation in programs and campaigns with decision-makers.

Environmental Protection Program:

The program aims to improve and preserve the environment by paying attention to clean energy alternatives, awareness of the risks of climate change, and participating in programs and campaigns with decision-makers.

Organizational Structures

Board of Trustees

It is the highest leadership of the organizational structure. It consists of a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and a member. The Board of Trustees appoints the Executive Director and employees. The Board is responsible for representing the Foundation before the local authorities and any other parties or organizations.

Executive Director

Appointed by the Board of Trustees and responsible for making daily decisions and for ensuring coordination and cooperation within the institution.

Advisory Board

It contains several individuals concerned about human rights. The Advisory Board participates in evaluating the institution’s activity, initiating ideas, follow-up, and evaluation.
